Belfast-based Aaron Mcilwaine’s latest visit to the Linear Fisheries complex produced another good hit from Unity Lake, including three thirties to 33lb 15oz as part of a 16-fish hit.
Aaron said: “After the usual look around the three lakes on the ticket, I decided to start on Gaunts Lake. I settled for a swim where I had seen a couple shows, but after a blank night, I just felt I had made a mistake; sometimes you just know when it’s not going to happen. So, I wasted no more time and loaded up the barrow.
“I spent most of the morning just looking and eventually a swim came free where I’d seen quite a few shows on Unity Lake and the rods were soon in position. Over the course of the session, I managed 17 bites, landing 16 fish, topped off with mirrors of 31lb 1oz, 33lb and an incredible-looking carp at 33lb 15oz!
“Tactics-wise, I used small bags of Crayfish Mini Mix pellets fished over a lightly baited area of Bug and SLK boilie chops and crumb soaked in their matching Liquid Foods. Not to forget, I used either the SLK or Bug Hydro Spod Syrups with every Spomb. My hookbait choice was the Bug Half Tones wafters.”
