A PRESENT BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!

The conditions were against him and the fish just didn’t appear to be having it, but right at the end of his birthday session on Trent View Carp Fishery, Mike Globe received the present he so dearly craved: not just a carp, but a 30-pounder!
With literally minutes of his session left, the 47-year-old from Leeds received a take on a Bug Corker wafter fished at range and the result turned to be a magnificent scaly mirror of 33lb 9oz, much to his delight.
Mike explains: “After spending a week at work during brilliant carp fishing conditions, I headed to Trent View for my birthday social just as we had a complete change in the weather. High pressure, a northerly wind and a big temperature drop did not inspire confidence!
“With the conditions against us, I deployed a high-attract mix comprising heavily soaked 12mm and 15mm Bug boilies, Bug crumb and Crayfish Maxi Mix pellets, all liberally coated in a combination of Bug Hydro Spod Syrup and Bug Amino Smoke.
“The fishing was extremely challenging, with bites around the lake at a premium, so upon waking up on Sunday morning after two bite-less days, I thought the chance of a birthday carp had gone!
“We were due to reel in at 9am when, right on cue, at 8.51am, the right-hand rod, fished at range on to a deep-water silt spot, burst into life. After a savage battle, a stunning 33lb 9oz mirror went in the net to cap off a brilliant birthday trip!”
