BACK AMONGST THE BIG ’UNS!

Steve Haylett is back amongst the big ’uns on Monks Pit, ending a recent spell of smaller fish with a 44lb 2oz unit.
It was only a matter of time before Steve’s ever-faithful blend of Secret 7 goodness produced the goods for him once again, also yielding a stunning mid-twenty scaly for good measure.
Steve said: “I was back down my syndicate for two nights full of the optimism and, after seeing a few fish up the deep end of the lake, I wasted no time in getting the rods out!
“I was fishing over a fair bit of bait, consisting of mixed-sized Secret 7 boilies, S7 boilie crumb and Crayfish Mini and Maxi Mix pellets, all soaked in Molasses, S7 Liquid Food and Salmon Oil for extra attraction.
“No more than two hours had passed before I was away! Clearly something decent had taken a liking to my PB pop-up, as a tough battle soon ensued. After a few sessions of only catching smaller fish, it was great to see a big carp in my net, a lovely mirror of 44lb 2oz.
“After a quiet period, I decided to make a change and fish an S7 Corker wafter with a fleck of pink on top as a sighter, a tactic that has often got me bites during quieter times.
“On the final morning, I was awoken from my slumber when the same rod rattled off! This turned out to be a stunning scaly mirror of 25lb.”
