Stunning scaly mirrors and an old original once caught by Dave Lane were the highlights of Mark Watkins’ latest visit to his Northamptonshire syndicate water.
“I turned up to my 59-acre syndicate in Northamptonshire at about 1 o’clock in the morning,” said Mark.
“The wind had been blowing south-westerly for a few days prior to the session, so I decided to set up on the back of it. During the day I managed to find a nice clear spot at 170 yards and put three rods over the top of it with hinged stiff rigs and 15mm boosted PB pop-ups. I Spombed out about 8kg of mixed 8mm, 12mm and 15mm Bug boilies and Bug crumb that had been pre-soaking for 48 hours in Bug Liquid Food, Hot Hemp Oil, Liver Extract and Calanus Hydro. I also separated a few kilos of boilied and coated them in the Insect Meal for extra attraction.
“In total, I managed four fish from 19lb to 23lb 4oz. Although small in stature, they made up for their size with their looks! The best of the bunch was a very old original that hadn’t seen the bank in the best part of 10 years, so I was extremely happy with that one.”
