BIG WINDS BLOW IN THE FORTIES FOR ROGER
With strong winds forecast, Roger Bacon cancelled his plans to visit RK Leisure’s Kingsmead Lake and instead headed for Grenville, knowing how much the fish love a big wind on this big pit!
Using the wind to his advantage, Roger started with 15kg of 8mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm and mini dumbbells in both The Bug and The Switch, bait he’d had soaking in the Calanus Hydro for 24 hours.
Fishing at a range of 140-150 yards in 30ft of water, Roger ended up getting through 30kg bait in total, as they fish really got on it, with seven in total paying him a visit, including forties of 48lb 10oz, 42lb 10oz and 40lb 4oz.
At the business end, Roger fished with boosted Pink Peril pop-ups on his long, blow-back D-rigs.
