Groundbait powders can make all the difference when attracting carp, but you need to use the right powders for the right situations.
How to Use DNA Stick Mixes: The PVA stick is somewhat of a forgotten art these days, which is why it is such a massive edge for those who use it, particularly for those our use our dedicated Stick Mixes.
Simply add some Stick Mix to a container and slowly add your chosen liquid. You will need a PVA-friendly liquid for this, such as BetaStim, Calanus Hydro or Hemp Oil. Mix the powder and liquid together until you have a finished mix that is still fairly dry; try to avoid getting the mix too wet. Add a couple of inches of the mix to a PVA mesh tube, ensuring the PVA mesh is primed at the other end, and push down with the plunger, making sure to block the powder with your thumb at the opposite end. Once the mix has been compacted down with the plunger, slowly tease the mix out into the PVA mesh, and then tie off the PVA at then other end. This will give you a PVA stick that can be attached to your rig.
How to Use DNA Cloudy Spod Mixes (Blizzard and Red Mist): To create a cloudy spod mix, add water slowly until you reach a soupy consistency. You may find after being stood for a while you need to add some more water to keep it at the required consistency.
You can also use Blizzard and Red Mist as part of your stick or PVA bag mixes, as they are very versatile products.
How to Use Natural Powders (Insect Meal and Krill Meal): There is no end to the possible uses of Insect Meal and Krill Meal, but the most popular way to use them is for ‘dusting’ boilies. To do this, simple add your chosen boilies to a bucket, coat them in your preferred liquid and then ‘dust’ the glazed boilies in your powder. Rotate the boilies in a bucket until they get an even coating of the powder. These baits can now be introduced to your swim and will give off additional levels of attraction for hours.
The Insect Meal and Krill Meal can also be used in stick or PVA bag mixes, spod mixes, coating floaters, or whatever takes your fancy.
How to use Crayfish Heavy Bag and Feeder Mix: This product is designed with PVA bag and feeder fishing in mind. The finished powder binds together beautifully with minimal liquid required, meaning it will pack out a PVA bag or feeder mould with minimal fuss. It is dense and heavy and will sit on the bottom around your hookbait, giving an area for the fish to home in on.
The Crayfish Heavy Bag and Feeder Mix can also be used in a spod mix if you want to ensure your bait gets to the bottom as quickly and effectively as possible, which is ideal for deeper lakes.
