CARP CAMP IS ANOTHER MASSIVE HIT!
We were delighted to support year’s Carp Camp event at Wyreside Lakes in Lancashire, an initiative designed to introduce young anglers to the sport and set them on their way to a fulfilling life in pursuit of carp.
Wyreside general manager, Callum Reid, said: “This event, which is now in its eighth year, is all about giving the next generation of carp anglers knowledge and tools to improve their angling and hopefully encourage them to fall in love with this great sport.
“The event is held over 48 hours on Foxes Lake, with 10 students aged between 12 and 16. This event was once again a huge success, with all of the students learning tonnes of new tips and tricks, including fish care, rigs, surface fishing, solid bags, spodding, casting, lead control, bait application and much more.
“All of the students were fantastic and keen to learn as much as possible from all the coaches. The lads managed to land a whopping 30 fish, including 11 of 20lb-plus and four of 25lb-plus, as well as seven new PBs. The lads caught on loads of different tactics, including baited spots, solid bags, zigs and off the top. The best baits seemed to be Bug Corker wafters and Crayfish pellets.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to all the coaches, Sam Aires, Rob Burgess and Ray Gong for all their help, and also to Korda and DNA Baits for supporting this event and supplying the kids with all the bait and tackle they needed for the event.
“Lastly, a big shoutout to Alex Shorrock for running around like a madman to capture it all on film, which is due to drop on the Wyreside YouTube channel in around four weeks. Keep your eyes out, as this is definitely not one to be missed!”
