Steve Haylett’s first trip of the year coincided with some beautiful early-spring weather and the fish certainly responded to the warmer temperatures.

Fishing a deep estate lake with a lot of margin opportunities in his chosen swim, Steve got off the mark with an 18lb common on a solid bag with Crayfish Mini Mix pellets and a PB pop-up.

The next day saw temperatures rise even more, so out came the zig kit and two PB Candy Sticky hookbaits coated in PB Intense Booster. The result was three more fish over the next 24 hours, commons of 32lb 8oz, 23lb 6oz and another double.

“Four fish on my first session of 2021. Well worth the wait, I’d say,” said Steve.
