Tim Thornton’s first session out with The Bug saw him get amongst one of the better residents in Devon’s Melbury Reservoir, a common just shy of 30lb.
“This was my first time out with The Bug and a big change for me, having had massive faith in SLK,” said Tim.
“Fishing at range, I offered 18mm Bug snowman rigs over a light bed of 18mm Bug freebies. The storm raged through the night with howling wind and rain, but in the morning things got brighter and I landed a cracking mid-double scaly mirror.
“A couple of hours passed before my middle rod ripped off and a long, slow battle ensued. Eventually I slipped the net cord under a lovely character in the form of a 29lb 4oz common. I was really chuffed with these fish and a great first-time result on The Bug.”
