HE NEVER FAILS!
It doesn’t seem to matter what form the lake is on or what the conditions have in store, John Payne always seems to get through to them on the Monks Pit syndicate.
On his latest visit, a trio of thirties were backed up by a trio of twenties as John extended what has already been a fantastic year on the Cambridgeshire syndicate water.
John said: “Upon arriving at the lake, it seemed it had been a bit out of sorts and rather hit and miss regarding captures, but with the lake to myself, how could I fail?!
“After a quick lap, I saw many likely areas but being a creature of habit, I chose a swim that has been good to me. After a pretty uneventful but insanely bright Full Moon night, I was left with only a 22lb common for my efforts.
“This swim was renowned for its morning activity, so I was rather concerned that by midday not a fish or sign of feeding had been seen. This was the same for the rest of the lake, so with nothing else to draw me away, I stayed put and gave them a bit of grub!
“Three-quarters of a bucket of chopped S7 and Bug boilies laced with BetaStim and Crayfish Hydro Spod Syrup was deposited to the area, along with three critically balanced S7 Corker hookbaits over the top.
“It wasn’t until 2am before the middle rod was away and a pretty 27lb 11oz mirror was having its picture taken. At five o’clock the next morning, I was battling a 32lb 3oz mirror, and the fish kept feeding regularly until my departure, with mirrors of 36lb 10oz, 30lb 7oz and 27lb 9oz gracing my net.”
