The Abbey Lakes complex in France is showing some excellent early-autumn form, with Doncaster angler David Cawkwell amongst those to benefit.

The 44-year-old spent a week on Heron Lake and was rewarded with two 50-pounders, the aptly named Immaculate Common at 54lb 6oz and a mirror known as Gums at 53lb 8oz.

Dave caught the common from a spot near an island at 90 yards, where he presented a 12mm PB pop-up amongst a mixture of chopped and crumbed Secret 7 boilies soaked in S7 Hydro Spod Syrup. The mirror, on the other hand, came from a deep, clear channel at 80 yards, where David offered a PB wafter amongst chopped and crumbed SLK boilies covered in Hydro Wheat.

Certainly proof that the big fish at Abbey Lakes love a good fishmeal at this time of year!
