An end-of-January trip to Old Mill Lakes saw Mike Globe run out of bait during a hectic session that saw no fewer than 10 fish come his way in 48 hours!

This was my first visit to Old Mill and I decided on Oak Lake for a chance of a winter bite,” said Mike.

“Conditions were crazy, with 50mph-plus winds and the air pressure all over the place. I managed to find a few fish at long range in a slightly deeper area. Despite a 5-degree water temperature, the fish were really looking for bait, with most bites coming immediately after rebaiting.

“I actually ran out of bait towards the end of the session, which slowed down my catch rate. All in all, an incredible winter session!”

Amongst Mike’s fish were two mid-twenty commons to 26lb, backed up by some nice mirrors to low twenties.

Small PB or Wraysberry wafters accounted for all of Mike’s bites, fished over a mixture of Bug and Secret 7 crumb as well Bug and S7 pellets, also coated in matching Bug and S7 Hydro Spod Syrup.
