I CAN’T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED!
Stephen Chamberlain said he pulled away from his latest outing on his Cambridgeshire syndicate in complete disbelief, after snaring two of the venue’s A-teamers as part of an incredible five-fish hit.
The 45-year-old from St Neots had already banked fish to 36lb when the almost unspeakable happened and his net was graced by hugely coveted mirrors of 49lb 4oz and then 53lb 8oz on the same day!
He said: “After landing a small common on the first night, and with a lack of fish activity in front of me, I knew I had to move to where I’d seen some of the bigger fish the previous day.
“After the first few hours on the second day, I’d managed two fish to 36lb, which I would have been more than happy with, but the following day things were about to get ridiculous and, in truth, I still can’t believe what happened!
“At 6am, I had a take from what felt like a heavy fish from the off, and after a short fight I netted one of the A-teamers at 49lb 4oz!
“During the day and the previous evening, I’d seen one of the venue’s other largest residents patrolling the margins where I had a bait positioned – it was definitely on the hunt for food.
“Around 6pm, I received a take on my solid-bag presentation fished amongst a spread of boilies. After a long battle, the fish was finally in the net, and it was the fish I’d seen during the day, this time an even bigger mirror going 53lb 8oz. I’m still in shock today!”
A combination of slip-D presentations and solid bags accounted for Stephen’s fish, baited with Bug bottom baits and Bug Half Tones pop-ups. He then fished his rigs over a bed of Bug freebies soaked in Crayfish Hydro Spod Syrup.
