I KNEW IT WAS A BIG ’UN STRAIGHT AWAY!
Brad Wilson got through to one of the better fish on his latest visit to the GUYs syndicate at Linear Fisheries, snaring a 37lb 2oz mirror from the more challenging Gaunts Lake.
The 31-year-old, who had travelled over from Ebbw Vale for his session, knew he had a better fish as soon as he hooked into it!
“The fish took about 60-70 yards of line off me on the take,” he said.
“I knew it was a big ’un straight away, as it was holding deep! After a 15-minute battle, I slipped a cracking 37lb mirror over the net cord. What a very powerful fish! The wrist of its tail was huge.”
Brad opted for a solid-bag bag approach, fishing Secret 7 Half Tones wafters amongst Crayfish Mini Mix pellets and Calanus Hydro. He cast his offerings to the bottom of an island shelf, where he also introduced a mixture of whole and crumbed 12mm Secret 7 boilies and both Crayfish Maxi and Mini Mix pellets that he had soaked in loads of liquid!
