A huge congratulations to Miranda Brown and Becky Sharman, who have been crowned the first-ever winners of the British Ladies’ Pairs Championship!

Miranda and Becky came out on top of seven pairs during a tricky weekend’s fishing at Willow Park Fishery in Aldershot, where the match kicked off in the wake of a heavy frost the night before.

Two fish for a combined weight of 38lb 15oz were enough to take the title, with Samantha Ely and Kerri Pickworth finishing in runners-up spot on 20lb 1oz.

Speaking this morning, Miranda said: “Well I’d have never dreamed we’d be waking up on Monday morning as the new British Carp Angling Championship’s Ladies champions, but we did!

“Well done to all the competitors; it was a gruelling 48-hour match in very wintery conditions, but both Becky and myself managed to scratch out two beautiful commons to take the win.

“Well done to Samantha Ely and her partner Kerri Pickworth taking runners-up and a big thank you to Shell Tarling for being our awesome runner. A huge well done to the Barlow family for yet another fantastic comp.”

Miranda and Becky caught their fish using trimmed-down Bug pop-ups dipped in Bug Liquid Food, fished in conjunction with crumbed-up Bug boilies and Bug pellets to form PVA sticks.
