MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
The journey to Joan is complete!
A few years since ‘The Pits’ first came on his radar, Reece Mosey’s journey has now come full circle after landing the most-coveted fish in the lake, a magnificent-looking common that goes by the name of Joan.
Tipping the scales at 38lb, it was also a new personal best for the delighted Reece, who couldn’t be more deserved of the capture, having worked tirelessly baiting spots in the weed with The Bug and particles and returning regularly to fish them on overnighters.
Reece takes up the story: “It’s been a funny old journey! After hearing about The Pits a few years back from an old friend of mine, the legend that is Scott Glover, to now actually living the stories I heard about, adding a few of my own, is an honour, to say the least.
“I knew this time of year would be the key to catching the big girl, so a steady supply of particles and a healthy helping of The Bug boilies to a hole in the weed was a tactic that started working immediately. After netting several of the other names of the lake, recording some recaptures along the way, I knew it would be maximum effort and consistency that would bring the results, so regular overnighters grafting my spots was the only thing I could think about, and the result speaks for itself.
“So, on the back of the massive storm this weekend, the bite alarm sang its tune and, guess what, it was Joan! At a respectable weight of 38lb, it was a new personal best for me, too. It blew me away, to say the least.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to Gaz Hood for not only letting me on the lake as a member and becoming good friends but obviously taking the best pictures I could have asked for!”
