When Christchurch Lake is busy, Linch Hill syndicate members have got one heck of a contingency plan in the form of Willow Lake.

At seven acres in size, it is the smallest lake on the Oxfordshire venue’s famous complex, but it is still blessed with an abundance of quality carp.

With Christchurch being busy and not really producing much of late, Jason Dowling opted to give Willow a go, and what a decision it turned out to be.

After baiting an area with a mixture of 8mm and crumbed Secret 7 boilies, Crayfish Mini Mix pellets and a few maggots, along with a good helping of S7 Hydro Spod Syrup, Jason was awoken the next morning by a take from a stunning 37lb 4oz common.

The fish had taken Jason’s trimmed-down Milky Malt pop-up that he had tipped with a few maggots.
