NEW HOPE LAKE CAMPAIGN UNDER WAY IN STYLE!
Kai Scales opened his account for the year on Grendon’s Hope Lake syndicate with a mega 37lb common!
Kai said: “Not a bad start to the season! I’d had a few blanks up until now, but landed a tench the other day despite only being on the bank for a few hours due to the oncoming 45mph wind getting the better of my old brolly system when I tried to set it up! Catching a tench was a bit of a surprise, but gave me confidence, as I’ve always thought if a tench will pick up your hookbait, a carp certainly will!
“I came back the next day with my two-man bivvy and jumped in a different swim nearer to where the carp had been showing and getting caught. With the wind behind me, I was set up comfortably and got the rigs and bait out on the money. One spot that I found the previous week wasn’t far off from where fish were showing, which soon paid off around 3 o’clock the next morning, when I was awoken by a few beeps. My bobbin then pulled up and I heard the click of the line being pulled out of the clip! After a tough scrap, I landed myself a 37lb common.
“The ever-faithful white Bug Half Tones pop-ups did the trick!”
