The Birchwood syndicate lake record has tumbled once to the hands of Gary Barker from Morecambe, this time courtesy of a mega common weighing in at 36lb 12oz, which was also a personal best for Gary.
Known of Chris’s Common, the fish was backed up by another thirty at 31lb 2oz that goes by the name of the Male, along with two mid-twenties, completing a memorable 48-hour stay on the North Lancashire venue.
Targeting the island margins, Gary found PB wafters to be the most prolific, especially when presented on Iain Macmillan-inspired German rigs.
Gary fished his rigs over a mixture of 18mm Bug boilies, hemp and maize.
