This rather magnificent dark, scaly 33lb mirror was caught by Michael Neate during an overnighter on a Midlands stillwater. The 36-year-old from Rowley Regis fished along the marginal shelf, where he offered a Slip-D rig baited with half a Wraysberry pop-up and half an S7 pop-up over a bed of S7 chops.
Michael added: “The bite came out of the blue in 10ft of water in the middle of the day when the temperature was touching 30 degrees. I didn’t expect a bite off the bottom when all the other carp were just sunning themselves!”
