Aaron Heath equalled his personal best with an absolutely stunning 37lb 8oz scaly mirror during a trip to Merrington Carp Fishery, one of two thirties that came his way as part of a five-fish catch on the Shropshire day-ticket venue.
Aaron said: “When I turned up the lake, the wind was pushing down into the corner. Fortunately for me, the people who were booked on to the swim hadn’t turned up, so I was able to cast into the corner. I put out 10 Spombs of 12mm Bug boilies and Bug pellets, with a dousing of Calanus Hydro.
“Three hours in I was graced by the presence of a 32lb mirror, which was followed a couple of hours later by a 24lb common. Then at midnight I had a melting take off an upper-twenty mirror!
“With someone turning up in the next peg down the following morning, I had to find different spots. I got the marker out and had a look round and found a spot in 7ft of water. Ten Spombs went out over the top and I was rewarded with a 37lb 8oz mirror within two hours, equalling my personal best! I put another eight Spombs out and had a 22-pounder within 10 mins of putting the rod back out. What a brilliant session!”
At the business end, Aaron used 15mm Bug Corker wafters on multi rigs.
