There are plenty of tanks coming out of Monks Pit at the moment – and here’s another!
Following a few months away from the bank, John Payne has been back on the Cambridgeshire syndicate of late and on his latest visit set a new UK personal best with a fish close to 50lb.
“After not getting the rods out since last October, I finally managed to get my life in order and put some time in on the bank,” said John.
“Things didn’t go exactly to plan due to bad angling on my behalf and I ended up with no fish for six nights’ effort. However, last weekend it all came good and I managed to snag a chunk called Coop, a repeat capture for me, but at 49lb 4oz it was more than enough to make me forget my previous blanks and give me a new UK personal best!
“The winning combination was a S7 Hard Hooker that I been soaking in Betastim for nearly a year, topped with a pink Bug Half Tones pop-ups, which I fished in conjunction with a mesh bag of blended Crayfish Mini Mix pellets, Secret 7 Stick Mix, Betastim and Tuna Oil.”
