Giant season has started early in France, with many big carp getting caught by British anglers heading over to the Continent for an autumn break.
Amongst the largest landed so far is this colossal 80lb 8oz beast known as the Swirly Common, the biggest fish in Le Moulin du Mee, coming in the middle of a storm!
Its captor, Tom Oakley, is currently mid-session at the beautiful 14-acre venue and prior to the capture of the eighty had already snared two fifties, three forties and three thirties.
He said: “The fish was caught over a boatload of crushed and whole Secret 7 boilies and pellets, all soaked in S7 Hydro Spod Syrup, with a wafter fished over the top.
“I’d baited this spot regularly and was catching fish from it throughout the week, but then last night the weather conditions got really bad, with 40-50mph winds and 50mm of rain, and at around 8pm the rod ripped off and after a 20-minute fight this was on the end!
“Me and my friend always use DNA, especially in France, and so far it has done me all these fish while others are struggling.”
