THE BUG IS A FORCE OF NATURE!
Kyson Lloyd just can’t keep away from the big ’uns at the moment, notching up yet another forty from the RK Leisure complex in the form of Groucho at 40lb 2oz from Horton Church Lake.
The 32-year-old said: “On the first night, I set up on some fizzing, but nothing materialised, so I had a look next door round the corner and noticed some more fizzing in a silty area. They were obviously on the naturals!
“I kept an eye on it for the next hour, sitting out bite time where I was. However, despite the pouring rain, I couldn’t ignore next door, so packed down and moved, getting soaked in the meantime! I opted for the baiting pole with a handful of Bug boilies for loose feed.
“The afternoon passed with them still fizzing in the area. I hoped a bit of bait may trick them off whatever they were grubbing on in the silt. Then in the early hours I was awoken by a fish called Groucho, a fish I had been speaking to a friend about the day before.
“I opted not to redo the rod to prevent disturbing them in the small bay I was in. This proved to be a smart move, as whilst I was weighing Groucho, the other rod went with a 26lb mirror.
“It was a nice busy morning and certainly made up for getting soaked the day prior. This year has certainly treated me well with big ’uns!”
