It’s safe to say Matt Smart enjoyed his taste of London park-lake fishing, having bagged himself a number of fish during a recent excursion to the capital, including a 30lb-plus common!

The 32-year-old managing director based in Kent focused primarily on The Bug for his 36 hours on the ‘Night Walkers’, capping his trip with an awesome 31lb 13oz common, which was backed up some low twenties and upper doubles.

He said: “A big shout out to the local lads, including Lenny, for showing me the ropes and making the shop runs at all hours just to keep the rods out. Also to my mate Charlie for the invite to such an open water with it having so many different characters floating about at all times of the day and night. I can honestly say it was some experience and I will be returning very shortly!”

Matt targeted spots at close range, where he fished 15mm Bug bottom baits tipped with trimmed-down yellow wafters over a bed of crushed and squeezed Bug freebies and corn.
