THREE FORTIES IN FOUR BITES!
Kyson Lloyd can’t put a foot wrong at the moment, with three of his past four bites on Horton Church Lake yielding 40-pounders!
After banking Armageddon at 47lb on his previous trip, the 32-year-old then returned to the RK Leisure syndicate for another session and snared Iris at 41lb and then Alfie at 45lb 14oz.
“After arriving late afternoon and seeing one show, I opted to bait a zone with a generous amount of 12mm Bug boilies and corn and fish both rods in that area,” said Kyson.
“Within an hour I had them fizzing in the area and shortly after seeing them fizz, the right-hand rod was away with a fish called Iris at 41lb! This fish had previously gone uncaught this season, so I was made up with that, particularly with it coming so early in the session.
“The left-hand rod went at midnight with a smaller mirror, but there was no further activity after that. I stayed in that zone for the second night, but the fish had clearly moved off. Watching the water with a morning brew, I saw two or three shows over the next hour or so at the opposite end of the lake, so I packed down and moved over.
“I put out the first rod with a mesh bag of crumbed Bug boilies on to roughly where I saw them and got a soft drop. It was a similar occurrence with the second rod. I then turned around to reach for the throwing stick when the first rod was away! This resulted in a fish called Alfie at 45lb 14oz.
“The big ’uns are liking me at the moment, with three of the last four bites producing forties, two of which were 45lb-plus.”
At the business end, Kyson used Bug bottom baits on blow-back rigs.
