Ben Humber has put the icing on the cake of his incredible run on the Turbary carp syndicate in Somerset, smashing his PB and setting a new lake record in the process.
The new venue opens to members next month, but in the meantime, some of the people behind it have been test fishing it and enjoying amazing results, especially Ben, who followed up his 38lb 8oz mirror last month with something a bit special on his latest trip.
After putting out an SLK wafter in 7ft of water, the take came 18 hours later and an “insane battle” ensued, before a fish named Lumpy was netted for Ben by the lake owner, Shaun.
Weighing in at a colossal 45lb 12oz, it was a new lake record for the syndicate.
Ben added: “Years ago I used to climb a tree and watch Lumpy swim around in the shallows on calm summer evenings and now she’s an absolute monster of a carp and a new personal best for me and probably many more anglers in the future.”
