What a recovery!
Car troubles meant Karl Forrest almost abandoned his latest overnighter on his syndicate water, but he was glad he didn’t, as later that evening he was cradling a 35lb 8oz common!
Karl said: “After my car had broken down, my friend’s son had to come to my rescue. Setting up in the dark isn’t ideal, but I thought I saw a fish as I was driving around. That was enough to make me stay and chuck two rods in the area. I didn’t get the best of drops; I wanted it in the soft silt, but I was cold and just wanted to get my head down. The effort paid off in the end, with a beautiful common coming my way in the moonlit sky.”
The Bug did the business once again for Karl, with the fish falling to a Bug bottom bait fished to a silty gully amongst a mixture of whole and crumbed Bug boilies and a few tigers.
