Shane Thomas had his winter made shortly before Christmas with the capture of the largest fish in his syndicate venue, and his first UK forty to boot!

Shane said: “After being on my syndicate for several months chasing my first UK thirty and catching multiple twenties, I managed to skip the 30lb barrier and caught the biggest in the lake, a perfect common at 46lb 4oz. What an early Christmas treat this was!”

The Colchester-based 28-year-old was on a 48-hour session when he tripped up the common, coming to a trimmed-down white Secret 7 Half Tones pop-up fished to a clear spot just short of an overhanging tree.

Shane, who also managed a 23lb common during his session, baited with Secret 7 boilies and Crayfish Mini Mix pellets.
