Now that the temperatures are on the rise again and the fish are getting their heads down on the bait, it’s time to start talking boilies!
Fishing a new water can be a challenge. There is a lot to learn, from the patrol routes of the carp and the best spots to preferred bite times and the correct rigs for the lakebed, but one thing Alex Shorrock never has to worry about when fishing a new water is bait.
At this time of year, Alex’s bait prep generally follows a similar pattern. His goal is to make his boilies as ‘tacky’ as possible to ensure a slow and gradual release of attractors through the water column – and he believes he has found the perfect combination!
Utilising The Bug boilies with a mixture of Bug Liquid Food, Bug Hydro Spod Syrup and Bug Amino Smoke and then adding a little bit of Insect Meal, Alex is able to give his baits the perfect a tacky, sticky texture that he feels is perfect at this time of year and a great place to start when approaching a new water for the first time.
