Ed Banks found himself cradling a classic Nene Valley common on his latest visit to his Doddington Lane Pits syndicate water, a cracking 34lb 8oz common that topped a three-fish catch.
“After seeing several shows the evening before, I knew the best chance for a bite would be first light due to the heat we have been having.” Ed.
“That bite came when my rod in a small area between huge weedbeds tore round and bent double! Straight away I could tell it was a good fish and after flat-rodding me several times I finally netted it and could tell it was one of the original commons, the sort of common the Nene Valley is known for.”
All Ed’s fish succumbed to 15mm white Bug Half Tones pop-ups that he plugged with putty, fished over a mixture of 15mm Bug and SLK boilies, mixed together with Crayfish Maxi Mix, Crayfish Mini Mix, hemp and maize.
