MINIMUM BAIT EQUALS MAXIMUM REWARD!
Minimal baiting but maximum attraction proved the key to Sam Stansfield’s PB-smashing trip to Lac du Charlou in France, where he bagged himself a giant of a mirror!
With just one fish caught from the venue in the two weeks prior to Sam’s session, the 25-year-old opted to keep things light and went in with bags of Bug crumb and chops, all soaked in Bug Liquid Food. After bagging himself a 49lb mirror on the first morning, the next morning he hit into something absolutely colossal, a 76lb 10oz mirror that goes by the name of Scrumpy Jack, obliterating his personal best!
Sam said: “Before arriving at the lake, we were aware it had been fishing hard, with just one fish coming out over the previous two weeks despite 10 anglers per week on the lake.
“Due to this and being a pressured water, I opt for minimal bait, as you never know what the last guy put in before you bait-wise. I crushed up some Bug boilies to give me some powder and small chunks to put in the solid bags.
“Over the rest of the week, the other three anglers I was with blanked and there were only two other fish out across the whole lake.”
At the business end, Sam used either Bug Half Tones or Bug Hard Hookers.
