ROGER OUTSMARTS GRENVILLE LAKE CARP YET AGAIN!
Despite being busy at home in recent months, Roger Bacon couldn’t resist the urge to get out in these great autumn conditions and see if the Grenville Lake carp were up for a feed!
Setting up in the teeth of a new westerly wind didn’t pay off, with nothing to show for his first 24 hours. Deciding he needed to act, Roger upped sticks and moved to the opposite end of the lake into the deeper water, where he had seen some fish show.
After introducing approximately 15kg of Bug boilies, Roger started seeing fish show over and around his bait almost instantly, but despite the fish being present, another 24 hours passed without a bite. This was unusual behaviour for the Grenville carp, as according to Roger, when you see fish over your bait, there’s usually a very good chance of a bite.
Leaving one rod in the middle of the bait, Roger changed tactics on his two other rods, opting to fish solid bags of Crayfish Mini Mix pellets injected with Bug Liquid Food on the edges of the baited area. This tactic completely changed his session around, with no fewer than 14 bites coming his way over the next couple of nights, with 11 fish to 45lb-plus landed.
Inside his solids, Roger fished with Bug Hard Hookers tipped with Wraysberry pop-ups. He would recast his solids regularly, every couple of hours or so, just to ensure he had some fresh smell in the area, a tactic that paid off massively!
