Keith Lee had to bait heavily and regularly to keep the bites coming during a trip to Berners Hall, but he got out what he put in, topping an eight-fish catch with a 33lb 8oz common and three other thirties.
The 49-year-old from Bury St Edmunds said: “The only clear spot I found was at 22 wraps over the top of weed beds, so I decided to fish up to the closest weedbed at 50 yards to get a better line lay and was able to back lead and get lines out the way. I used roughly 45kg bait in total to keep the bites coming.”
Keith’s catch also featured three 30lb-plus mirrors and four twenties to 27lb.
All his fish succumbed to PB pop-ups or plastic corn fished over a regularly topped-up bed of 18mm Bug and 15mm Secret 7 boilies, Crayfish Mini Mix pellets and particles.
