THE GHOST OF SWAN VALLEY
A social session on Yateley’s Swan Valley Lake saw Ollie Goodhew tempt a couple of fish in just a single night’s angling, with the highlight being the lake’s big ghostie at 32lb.
Ollie said: “What a cracking social up at Swan Valley, topped off with a 24lb common and the lake’s big ghostie at 32lb, which is best-looking fish I’ve caught in a long time and definitely the best catch shot.
“Turning up halfway through the trip due to work commitments, I spent the first day walking the lake and enjoying the social before settling into a weedy zone where it was evident they were holding up. I fished solid bags with Crayfish Mini Mix pellets and Insect Meal to clear spots in the large weedbed, over a mixture of Bug crumb and Bug pellets.
“By late morning the spot was like a Jacuzzi, so I went and sat by the rods and no more than 30 seconds later it was away.
“I only managed one proper night’s fishing as they started spawning, so I will definitely be back.”
