As a loyal visitor for the past seven years, Jonny Robins can now call himself the lake record holder of the beautiful Churn Pool fishery in the Cotswolds, having bagged himself the Big Lin.
The hugely coveted fish tipped the scales at its biggest-ever weight of 42lb 8oz, also giving Jonny a new UK personal best in the process, after he tempted it from a marginal spot under a tree.
Jonny said: “After watching the fish swim along a marginal spot under the tree, I decided to put out some Bug and corn and leave it for a couple of hours. When I came back, there were two big fish absolutely going crazy on the spot, so I decided to go and get my rod. I dropped the rig on the spot and as they moved off put some more Bug boilies and corn over the top. They soon came back and the Big Lin took a liking to my hookbait, dropping straight down on it!”
