It was a case of third swim lucky for Ed Banks on his latest trip to the Doddington Lane Pits syndicate, as he reaped the rewards of getting on the fish following a couple of moves.
Amongst his fish was a dark, big-shouldered 34lb 8oz mirror, which he backed up with four twenties to 27lb 10oz and an upper double.
Ed said: “After an unproductive first night, I decided a move was on the cards. Nothing was showing, so I hedged my bets on getting on the new south-westerly wind. After sitting there for four hours, I got a feeling fishing off the back of the wind was a better option, so moved and received three takes the next morning, followed by another three on the last morning. The first take of the Sunday morning turned out to be an absolute brute of a mirror, which looked even bigger than in the net than the 34lb 8oz it weighed.”
Bug Corker wafters continue to do the business for Ed, which he fished to a silty channel over three buckets of 15mm Bug and SLK boilies, combined with Crayfish Maxi Mix pellets, hemp and maize.
